Ruth Marie Straub-Gordon

Ruth served four tours of duty which lasted eight years for the American Red Cross Overseas Association and has also served as the National Assistant Director of Personnel Services with the Eastern Division of the American Red Cross for thirty two years. She was an avid world traveler and has visited many places across the globe.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Jack Gordon, parents; Alfred and Lena Marie Straub brother; Alfred Straub and sister; Margaret Straub.

Ruth is survived by her brothers; Richard A. Straub and Louis Straub (Beatrice), nephews; Louis R. Straub II (Elizabeth), John Paul Straub III and Matthew S. Straub (Susan),Two great nieces; Madeline and Anna Claire Straub, step-daughter; Faison Drury and two step-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Jefferson Place and Dr. Jane Cornett for their exceptional care.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Louisville chapter of the American Red Cross, St. Vincent DePaul Louisville Council or the Crescent Hill United Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be conducted at 10:30 am Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Thursday, October 18, 2012.

A reception will be held after the interment Friday at Crescent Hill United Methodist Church.
