Samuel Andrew May, age 90 of Louisville passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012.

He was born February 9, 1922 in Bradfordsville, KY, the son of Henry and Betty May.

Samuel served in the United States Navy all over the world, including the Pacific and Atlantic Arena from 1940 to 1946. He was stationed on the USS Texas, near Omaha Beach, Normandy on D-Day. After his active duty service, he was called up from reserve duty to serve during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. as an Instrument Specialist and was a former member of Okolona Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Eloise Kelley May; a daughter, Denise (Paul) Stine; four grandchildren, Austin and Dominic Stine and Jason and Justin May; and one brother, Marvin May.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael May; his brothers, Eugene, Charlie, Joseph and Marion May; and one sister, Mary May

A Celebration of Samuel’s Life will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 2, 2012 in the Parlor of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
