The Calhouns moved to Louisville in 1949. Sandy graduated from DuPont Manual High School and earned a bachelors degree at Western Kentucky University. She later completed graduate work at the University of Louisville.
Sandy was employed by Jefferson County Public Schools as a first grade teacher, resource teacher and retired in 1996 as an elementary counselor at Smyrna Elementary after 33 years of service.
Sandy loved retirement. She was able to unplug her alarm clock, shop, lunch with friends, watch her soap operas, listen to rock & roll, country music, spend time with her family and keep up with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas N. Milton; son, COL(Ret) Stephen T. Milton (Amy); sister, Suzann C. Thompson (Don); sister-in-law, Ramona Setser, and three grandchildren, Ellie, Anna and Wyatt Milton.
Visitation is from 3:00 until 7:00 Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Arch L. Heady, 4400 Bardstown Road. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 on Monday, April 9, 2018 with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.
