Sarah Christine (Chris) Werner (née Watson) passed away peacefully at the age of 97 surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Peytonsburg, Kentucky on February 12, 1928, to Arnold and Annie Watson. In 1947, she married John H. Werner, settled in Louisville, welcomed their children, and spent 57 beautiful years together before his passing in 2004.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband John H. Werner, parents Arnold and Annie Watson, sisters Robbie Ferguson and Helen Barbour, brothers Richard Watson and James Raymond Watson, and her great granddaughter Madeline Parker Wise.
She is survived by her children Berenda G. Werner/Burns and John L. Werner and wife Linda Werner; grandchildren Christy Beth Smith (Kevin), Jason Werner Burns, John Reed Werner, and Laura Lucille Sarah Werner; great grandchildren Piper McKenna Wise, Greysen Burns Smith, Jagger Watson Burns and Elizabeth Grace Burns; sister Patsy Dalton, and several nieces and nephews whom all loved her dearly.
Chris spent her career at St. Anthony’s Hospital, was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church and Quilting Club, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, piecing a new quilt, playing cards and bingo. Many in the family inherited her love of the written word, as she was an avid reader. She had an eye for fashion, and was never caught without lipstick on, nails painted, and her hair done. But her true passion was spending time with family and friends and all the laughter and love that ensued.
On Monday, June 9, 2025, Chris will be Honored at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. with a Visitation from 2:00PM to 3:30 PM followed by a Celebration of Life service from 3:30 PM to 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Saint Gabriel St Vincent de Paul Chapter, 5505 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, Ky 40291
