A devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Sharron truly lived her life in service to others. A genuine conversationalist, Sharron’s warmth, laughter, and love were always felt by those around her.
Sharron was born on May 06, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to Henry Herzog and Elisabeth Keller. She was a graduate of Carl Schurz High School and earned a B.S. in Education from Northern Illinois University.
She worked in the education field for many years and later relocated from Illinois to the San Francisco Bay area, where she worked at University of California San Francisco. In 1982, following a tragic accident involving her parents, Sharron gave up her career and life in California, and moved to Brooksville, Florida, to become a full-time caretaker for her parents. Sharron took loving care of her parents for over 25 years, up until the time of their passing.
Even after her time as a caregiver for her parents ended, Sharron never took a break caring for and serving others. She was actively involved in her church, Spring Hill United Church of Christ, where she regularly volunteered reading to children, baking cookies, working at charity drives, and singing in the choir. She also continued to work in the field of education as a substitute teacher. She frequently enjoyed socializing with her friends in High Point over a game of cards or dime jingle, or by keeping touch with her friends and family all around the country with regular chats over the phone. Sharron was also a friend to many animals – she deeply loved and cared for her own cats as well as the outdoor cats who visited her at her home.
It would be challenging to share a story about Sharron without breaking into a smile or laughter because she lived her life with joy, happiness, and humor. She was a good friend who would always lend a helping hand when needed, or would just love to sit around and talk or watch football together – especially if it was her Chicago Bears!
She was a devoted Aunt to her nieces and they will always treasure their memories of summers spent together having fun and staying up late playing poker and Clue.
She is survived by her two nieces, Sarah (Tim), and Stephanie (Chris), as well as her two grandnephews, Leopold and Simeon, and two grandnieces, Lenya and Emily, and her sister-in-law, Barbara, as well as extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and younger brother, Michael.
A memorial service in honor of Sharron’s life will be held at a later date.
