Shirley Ann Coomes, 77, of Louisville passed away September 14, 2015 at Norton Audubon Hospital. She was born on July 13, 1938 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Lloyd and Bessie Abell. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by several brothers and sister.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Denny Coomes; a son, Jeff Coomes (Mary); a daughter, Jennifer Shepherd (Bryan); four grandchildren, Alexandria, Jaci, Megan and Mason; and two brothers, Kenneth Abell (Jean) and Donnie Abell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive with entombment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Wednesday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road .
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
