Sonja Black Edwards, 59, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away on February 20, 2024. Born on January 26, 1965 in Louisville, Sonja was the only daughter of the late Robert and Peggy Black. She graduated from Seneca High School in 1982.
Sonja worked at Cedar Grove Elementary School in Bullitt County, Kentucky for 18 years as a teacher’s assistant and bus monitor. In her free time, she was an avid gardener and loved spending time outside with her husband and two sons. Sonja won numerous blue ribbons for her delicious pickles at the Kentucky State Fair.
Left to cherish Sonja’s memory are her wonderful husband of 28 years, Michael “Mike” Edwards, and her two beautiful sons, Robert Michael Edwards and Austin Theodore “Teddy” Edwards (Riley).
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 11:00am-2:00pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218, with a prayer service at 2:00pm led by Mark Ledford.
Because of Sonja’s passion and love of children, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
