It is a rarity and a true gift to encounter a person who touches the lives of those around them profoundly through genuine kindness and honor. The world lost such a person in Steven Richard Baser on October 21, 2022.
Born February 8, 1938 in Louisville, KY, Steve grew into a bright and energetic young man with an unmatched work ethic and passion for taking care of others.
He served in the US Army and went on to pursue a diverse career as a professional sporting event photographer and local business owner in contracting, plastering and commercial property management. He also achieved an honorary Sheriff's status in Jefferson County. Throughout his life, Steve worked tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing of not only his family, but all those around him. His generosity and fundamental respect for others earned him the love and loyalty of family, friends, and colleagues.
Steve is survived by his wife of 38 years, Belinda Baser, sister Linda Stastny, as well as children Steve E. Baser, Dominique Shrader, and Sophia Baser, granddaughters Dakota Hangartner and Violet Shrader, and great-granddaughter Elin Hangartner. His family and community will feel his loss most deeply, but will always remember his signature wide smile and giving nature. In the words of Thomas Grey, “Large was his bounty and his soul sincere.” Steve’s family extends sincerest gratitude for the vigilant and compassionate care provided by Hosparus Health.
Per Steve’s request, a private burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, we ask that those wishing to honor his legacy, donate to Hosparus Health, Lewy Body dementia research, or their favorite non-profit organization.
