

Stephen was born on August 13, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky to parents, Clarence & Doris Brown. He grew up near Churchill Downs, and he loved to be on ponies. Steve and Glinda hosted derby parties nearly every year since 1980. Steve was an alumni of DeSales High School, Class of 1970. Golfing was his most competitive traits, and he spent many fun filled days on the golf courses including South Park and Iroquois. He retired from Athens Paper Company in 2016. He was a longtime member of the Zeplin and Jim’s Boys softball team. Gathering with family and friends, smiling, laughing, having a good time, and UK sports were his passions. Steve cherished being “Big Guy” to his grandson, Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Brown in 1977: sister, Allison Mary in 1958; mother, Doris Brown in 2014; and nephew, Troy Brown in 2016.
Left to cherish his loving memories is his wife, Glinda Brown; daughter, Angie (Jamie) Brown Graybill; grandson, Thomas Graybill; siblings, David (Sharon) Brown, Beverly Vincent, Ken (Teresa) Brown, Chris (Becca) Brown, Andrea (Bill) Bellis, Mark Brown, Ollie (Don) Jones, Mary (Kim) Recktenwald; 21 nieces and nephews: Allison, Ben, Hattie, Chad, Josh, Amber, Andrea, Jessica, Jennifer, Wes, Krystina, Chelsea, Jessica, Parrish, West, Natalie, JaVin, J.T., Sarah, and Nathan; brother – in – law, Brian Sheets; his “adopted son”, Chris Bailey; numerous great nieces and nephews, great – great – nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives across the pond and close friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home with Entombment to follow in the Garden of Flowers Mausoleums of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
The family expresses that those in attendance wear a mask and practice proper social distancing.
