Suzanne Belongia

Suzanne Belongia of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2026. Suzanne was born on May 30, 1946 in Louisville, KY. She graduated from Southern High School in 1964 and obtained her radiologic technologist certification from the School of X-Ray Technology at St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital where she worked for several years. She married her husband of 56 years, Douglas Belongia, son of Dave and Stella Belongia of Lena, Wisconsin, on August 27, 1966 at Christ Evangelical UCC Church in Louisville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Sherman, and two brothers, Don Sherman Jr and David Sherman. Survivors are her children Lisa Webb (Tina), of Richmond, Virginia, Steven M. Belongia (Sheryl) of Lebanon, Ohio, and Taryn Drane (Wade) of Louisville, Kentucky and six grandchildren, Aaron (Olivia), Matthew, Taylor, Parker, Alex (Kristen) and James, her sister Debbie King and her brother Steve Sherman (Patty) as well as many nieces and nephews.

In their retirement years Susie and Doug loved traveling to visit family, enjoyed beach vacations and quiet moments reading. Suzanne worked for many years at Aetna Insurance where she made lifelong friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren doing craft projects and attending their various events. She loved baking and candy making during the holidays and cheering on her favorite team the Kentucky Wildcats.

Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven on Saturday, August 8th between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., followed by a private graveside service.
