

Terry was the beloved son of the late Harlan Winterberger and the late Lena Winterberger. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Winterberger, and his sister, Joy Winterberger. He is survived by his niece, Kimberli (Winterberger) Cowan, along with extended family and many friends who will cherish his memory and the many ways he brought joy to their lives.
Terry spent 30 years working in mostly office work for Highlands Opportunity Workshop. He approached his work with care and those who worked alongside him appreciated his friendly spirit. A longtime member of Westport Baptist Church since the 1970s, Terry held his faith close throughout his life.
Terry was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. He loved 1970s music, particularly 1970s pop music. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Cincinnati Reds and always cheered on his favorite team. He also enjoyed watching The Andy Griffith Show and The Price Is Right.
He had a special fondness for homemade ice cream and White Castle cheeseburgers, and he especially enjoyed a cold glass of sweet tea. Terry also loved to play Aggravation (his favorite board game) and he found great enjoyment in participating with Buddy Ball, which is an organization that provides individuals with disabilities opportunities to play sports. His favorites to participate in were basketball and bowling.
Terry Lane Winterberger leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and friendship. The memory of his gentle spirit and the joy he shared will remain in the hearts of his family, church community, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 402224100, US, on July 11th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, for close family and friends.
