Born on September 28, 1952, Therese was the daughter of the late Charles Greer and Ollie Eskridge.
She earned an associate degree in accounting as well as her teaching certificate. Before retiring, she worked at St. Gabriel School and Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), where she served as a substitute teacher and also worked in the cafeteria and library.
Therese was dedicated to serving her community. She shared her gifts with others by volunteering as both a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout leader and was a proud member of the American Turners.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ollie Myrtle Eskridge; her fathers, Charles Greer and Marvin Buckler; her grandson, Keegan Valente; and her brother, Jimmy Greer.
Therese prioritized time with her family and leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 35 years, Dick Degener; her daughter, Amy Valente (Craig); and her grandchildren, Cole Valente and Chloe Valente.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218.
A funeral service celebrating Therese's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
