Thomas L. Smith, 71, of Louisville passed away on Tuesday. He was a retired Master Seargant with the United States Army and member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. During his service to his country he received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star, Army Comendation Medal and many other awards.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Joann M. Smith, Cathy D. Buck and Thomas L. Smith Jr.; three siblings, Phyllis Kaelin (Jim), Melvin P. Smith (Sue) and Nancy Hellmueller (Louis); three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass for Thomas will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Chapel in Pewee Valley, located next door to the main church. Entombment with Military Honors Will follow at Louisville memorial Gardens East. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday in the Parlor of Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home at Westport Village.
In lieu of customary expressions of sympathy the family has requested memorials to the American Cancer Society.
