I was so intrigued by Todd when I first met him in 1999 (at Mattingly Center) that I knew what field of work I wanted to be in. We've had some fun times, great memories and I'll always remember Todd's fierce determination. Sandy, Fritz, Josh & Chad I am so sorry and will be praying for you all during this difficult time.

When I was growing up, it was through Todd that I first learned of cerebral palsy. He was a constant fixture at our church. Over the years, I came to enjoy our conversations after mass. These encounters taught me to truly listen with a patient ear. His frequent trips around the neighborhood would often include a stop for a drink at my parent's house and then later at my own house. When I began my career working downtown, I was amazed to learn that he was there too. This man, confined to a wheelchair seemed to have no limits to where he could go. Untouched by the pessimism that pervades our society, he could move about in safety knowing that he may see a friend, or find a stranger to help him get a drink of water from his backpack. Over the years, I saw less and less of him. It seems his world was a little bigger than mine. Todd had more people to meet; more lives to touch.
Although I must believe that Todd is in a better place today, I know the world we are left with is a little dimmer without him. My hope is that those who were fortunate enough to know Todd will carry his light a little further, with the knowledge that disability does not diminish the preciousness of life. As Alice and I raise our own child with cerebral palsy, it gives me hope to see that his presence can often bring out the best in others. Although our son and Todd share very little in common beyond a diagnosis, I hope that one day he will be as free to experience and affect the world as Todd.

In 2013 Todd painted me a picture for my home, proudly displayed in my living room.  Great memories of Special Olympics, many laughs and good times along this journey.  Rest in peace my friend and fly with the Angels!

What a full life you had with beautiful family friends and opportunities to do the many things you loved.Viewing the photos was amazing and brought tears of joy remembering all the years of fun that we had together.

May those that knew and loved  Todd draw a measure of comfort knowing that he touched so many with just his presence and will remain in hearts forever.  Once you met this man of determination and perseverance you would remember him and he certainly would remember you.  It doesn't seem possible that he just called me two weeks ago, as the advocate he was, concerned for another.   And practical jokes...  he was the best!  Warrior, advocate, joker, friend... you will live on in all our beautiful memories.

Todd, I remember the first time we spoke and the last time we spoke. When we met 10 years ago, you were behind home plate and yelled, water. Of course, sitting behind home plate, I also remember you yelled "BLIND"!!!! 
"You're gonna get tossed." I said. 
You replied, "They won't toss a guy in a wheelchair, but if they did I would get on ESPN" "My Mamma would be so proud."
The last time we spoke it was a kiss and you were off, with Dad and your team to the College World Series .

That was the first and last time we spoke.  The moments in between will always be a treasure to me.  I learned so much from you, Todd, and I promise to pass it on.

Michael Todd- a man of humility, discipline, devotion and trust; you brought honor and dignity and most of all respect to your family name.  You leave a wonderful legacy
