OBITUARY

Tristan Elijah Deveaux

April 28, 2002March 17, 2021

Tristan Elijah Deveaux was born April 28, 2002 in Fort Lauderdale, FL to his first mom. He was welcomed with joy into the Deveaux family January 16, 2005. He died on March 17, 2021 from a drug overdose.

He was so much more than those statistics. He was a son. A brother. A grandson. A friend. He loved fiercely and was loved back. He loved his family, his friends, his dogs, trying new things: football, soccer, basketball, scouts, Ninjitsu, skateboarding, origami, Rubik’s cube, trumpet, you name it. His smile was infectious, and his love of life burned brightly.

Tristan attended Alma Easom and Van Story Elementary Schools in Fayetteville, NC, and St. Albert the Great School and Ballard High School in Louisville, KY. He was a member of Scout Pack 740 in Fayetteville, NC, and Troop 317 in Louisville, KY.

Tristan is survived by his parents, Peter and Lynn (Klumb) Deveaux; brothers Jackson, Henry and Max Deveaux; grandparents Raymond Deveaux and Shirley Klumb; aunts and uncles Mardi Deveaux and Adam Turner, and Beth (Deveaux) and Bill Havlicek; cousins Halley and Madison Havlicek and Zeke Turner; his beloved dogs, Boomer and Tippy; and so so many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Martha (Kelley) Deveaux and David Klumb, and aunt Karen Klumb.

Visitation will be from 3-8 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd., and also from 10:00am-11:30am on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the funeral home. A private family memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 17, 2021 and will be livestreamed on Facebook. www.facebook.com/archlheady

Too many good memories to share just one.

I can only share a Thanksgiving when Pete was deployed and I came down for the weekend. We made the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and a crazy fondue night on Friday. All of the boys were there.

The boys (T, Max and Henry) wanted to go Black Friday shopping and we went at midnight to the usual Target, Old Navy and Sears appliance store where they helped me buy a washer and dryer. Of course Tristan spent a little time "in" the dryer to test it, while Max and Henry tested beds. Went to breakfast and spent a lot of time laughing and went home and spent the neighborhood napping and watching movies. As usual we had the stare of people trying to figure out how we fit together and I would say like an interesting puzzle. When Tristan became a member of the Deveaux family he was attached only to Lynn. It was hard for him to trust. As time went on he became the handsome, fun and lovable Tristan. He always made me feel special and I will miss him and his joyful personality forever, Rest In Peace T and know how much you are missed and how much your family and friends loved you.

I don’t even have any words i’m so speechless that he’s gone. Tristan was the sweetest boy i’ve ever met. he had so much pain he didn’t show but still loved everyone around him unconditionally. he showed me how to love, he showed me how to be loved. you could make anybody laugh or smile no matter what. Tristan Elijah, baby, you were the light of my life. I will never ever forgot you. you gave me a purpose and i wish i could have done more to help you. I love you forever and always my baby. i thank god he blessed me with the time we had but i can’t help but be so angry that i didn’t have more time with you, sweet boy. i love you tristan. i know you’re at peace now, get your rest my love

Lynn, Peter....I have no words that would adequately express my sorrow and sadness. I have such wonderful memories of all your boys. I never see a Lego without thinking of Tristan and Max. Please know I will continue to pray for you and your boys. I'm only a phone call away. 910-308-0311. I am so very sorry and pray God brings all of you some much needed comfort. Love you all. Jacki

Tristan IS the most selfless person I’ve ever met. He never fails to make sure everyone is okay around him before checking on himself. He has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen, shining through his smile, reflecting on every single person he was around. Tristan was one of the few I considered a true friend. He had my back no matter the situation or who it involved. One of the things I will never forget and forever praise him for was a home he welcomed me at to just go and cry while he would sit there and just rub my back telling me it’s all gonna be okay. I can’t tell you the countless times he shared anything and everything he had on him with me. He is and forever will be such a generous, real, amazing soul. May he rest in enteral peace, living in happiness in which he always wanted to achieve.

We did not know Tristan but as parents ourselves we know how painful his loss must be to you. There are no words to describe deep grief but we are mindful of you as you go through this.
