Beloved wife, endearing mother, cherished grandmother, unforgettable friend. During her 91 years of life, Venida Brown occupied all of these roles in a very special and memorable way. Her rich life encapsulated a wealth of love, laughter, music, mentorship, and wisdom rooted in a core devotion to family and her faith.
She was a tendered-hearted individual of deep sentimentality and nostalgia that often found expression in her timeless organ music, meticulous memoirs and annotated family photography, and thoughtful holiday cards. In addition to playing the organ, she enjoyed quiet moments reading, reflecting, crocheting, and watching vintage television and movies, her favorite being Picnic. Most importantly, she cherished every opportunity to spend in the company of the family and friends whom she loved.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Ottis “Bud” Brown; daughter, Tonya Akers (Vernon); grandsons, Josh Akers (Shauna) and Michael Brown; and granddaughters, Amanda Fuque (Lori) and Lisa Brown. She is preceded in death by her sons, Dewayne Brown (Priscilla) and Hillis Brown. Though her passing is profoundly mourned, Venida’s memory and legacy will endure as a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at memory care center at The Willows of Springhurst for the love and care they gave to them all. They express special gratitude to Shay, Brittney, and Nicki for their extraordinary love and attention toward Venida during her residence.
