She was retired as a secretary with the Jefferson County Board of Education. Mrs. Burns was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and participated in the Southside Golden Age Club, as well as, Gateway Friendship Club, Walnut Street OASIS Club and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in rest by her husband, Paul Henry Burns.
Mrs. Burns is survived by three sons, Paul David Burns (Shirley), Dr. Robert L. Burns (Pat) and Richard E. Burns (Karen); a daughter, Julia Blanton; nine grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be on Monday, December 23rd, at noon at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3601 Taylor Boulevard, with interment following in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2pm until 8pm on Sunday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southside Baptist Church.
