

Virginia K. Pieper, 97 of Louisville, KY passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. She was born on a farm in Ferdinand, IN., which is also the home of the Sisters of St. Benedict. Her parents were Leo and Caroline Kippenbrock. Besides being a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she was a homemaker and volunteer for various organizations. She had the wonderful ability to make anything grow.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles F. Pieper, whom she met on the steps of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Louisville while he was stationed at Bowman Field prior to his service oversees in England, Normandy and Rhineland during WWII. Also preceding her in death were two sisters Mildred Klem and Isabel Tarullo and four brothers Reynold, Hubert, Robert and Aloysius Kippenbrock.
She is survived by her five children, Mary Ann Kemper (Ron), Lee Pieper (Peggy), Janice Hutchison, Susan Wolf (Ray), and John Pieper (Mary Ann); 15 grandchildren, Michelle Kemper, David Kemper, Lisa Newton, Laura Pieper, Mark Pieper, Colleen Pecore, Doyle Hutchison, Thomas Hutchison, Jennifer Hutchison, Amanda Prather, Melissa Hoeweler, Regina Whitworth, Raymond Wolf, Stephanie Reilly and Lauren Coffey and 21 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Virlee Durcholz and numerous brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.
Our Mom was a woman of tremendous faith, grace and kindness. She drew her strength from her family and faith which were the center of her life. She would always say about her family that she was so very blessed. Her life was most full when she was surrounded by her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Sacred Heart Village for their loving care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road at 10:00 AM on Wednesday September 14th with burial to follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8p.m.Tuesday September 13th at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air; Sisters of St. Benedict, Ferdinand, IN or the charity of your choice.
