Virginia L. “Ginny” Stanford Strahl (née Kuhn) was born on April 22, 1936, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William and Martha Kuhn. She grew up in Audubon Park as one of three daughters, alongside her sisters Betty and Martha.
After graduating from Atherton High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville School of Music. An accomplished opera singer, Ginny continued performing for many years.
She married and was the proud mother of three children, Vicki George, Deanna Yates, and Paul Stanford; the devoted grandmother of one granddaughter and nine grandsons; six great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly and prayed for daily.
Ginny was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Warren Strahl; granddaughter, Heather; sisters, Betty Armes and Martha Chinn.
A woman of deep faith, she attended Okolona Presbyterian Church for many years before transferring her membership to Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she remained an active member and cherished the fellowship of her Women’s Circle. She also worked for many years as a bank teller at First National Bank.
Ginny was blessed with many lifelong friends, among them her closet companions, Nancy Lang, and Ann Kintner.
She will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering dedication to her family, ready sense of humor, passion for music, and steadfast faith. May she rest peacefully in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral service will be 12pm Monday, October 12, 2026 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40218.
Visitation will be 1-4pm Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.
