Walter Thomas Oehler

Walter served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant on April 29, 2013. His dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his fellow service members were a testament to his character and values. Throughout his military career, Walter earned the respect and admiration of his peers, leaving a lasting impact on all who served alongside him.

Beyond his military service, Walter was an active member of the West Broadway Baptist Church community. His faith was a guiding force in his life.

Walter’s life was enriched by the love and companionship of Cindy Stilz, his devoted partner, and his cherished fur baby, Bella, Together, they shared many wonderful moments filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Walter’s circle of friends was extensive, reflecting the deep and meaningful connections he cultivated throughout his life. Each friendship was treasured, and he was known for his willingness to lend a listening ear and offer support whenever it was needed.

Walter’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Walter’s life may consider making a memorial contribution in his honor to the Wounded Warrior’s Foundation.

A brief memorial gathering will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, September 12, 2026, beginning at 11:00AM where he will be laid to rest.
