

Wesley was born in North Hollywood, California on March 15, 1961 and raised in Ashland, Kentucky by his parents, James and Rose Marie Barber. Wes married Diana in 1987, they had three girls and were married for 31 years, until her passing in 2018. Wes is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie Barber, wife, Diana Barber and his brother, James "Mick" Barber, Jr.
Wes graduated from Fairview High School as a valedictorian, class of 1979. He then went on to college and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, which kickstarted his career as a civil engineer. Wes was a proud member of the Corp of Engineers, where he responded to natural disasters and did several tours overseas, including tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as overseeing the cleanup and reconstruction following 9/11. He started his own surveying company in 1996, which he maintained up until his passing. Wes enjoyed being outdoors and surveying with his son-in-law, Cole. He spent the last of his retirement years as an avid disc golfer, participating in various tournaments across the United States with his brother. In his spare time, he also enjoyed golfing, watching and cheering on his UK Wildcats, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his girls and grandchildren. Wes will be truly missed by all whom adored him.
Left behind to cherish Wes's memory are his three daughters, Stephanie Napper (Jonathan), Kimberly Sutton (Cole) and Ella Barber; father, James H. Barber; grandchildren, Silas, Eli, Rowan Napper and Izabella Lewis.
Memorial visitation for Wes will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, Kentucky 40213. A memorial service to honor the life of Wes will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in the chapel at Evergreen Funeral Home.
