

Bill was born in Louisville then grew up in Japan and Germany where his father was stationed in the army. After returning home, Bill attended Louisville Male High School and played center on the 1964 undefeated state championship football team. In college he earned a BBA from Western Kentucky and an MBA from the University of Louisville. He began his career with GE in the technology management field. His long professional career included extensive career positions with GE, CSX, and IBM. He was a man of quiet strength, keen wisdom, and respect for all. He loved working, reading, traveling, his dogs, and, most of all, his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Winnie and Jesse Cline, and his brother, Robert Cline, and his wife Betty. He will be missed by his wife Melinda, his sister Laytoya Reeb and her husband John, his daughters Lauri Ann Cline and Lisa Lawton and her husband Tim, and his son Michael Cline and his wife Tina. He is also survived by his grandchildren David, Allen Matthew, Reid, Tessa, Brianna, Charles, Jacob, Cullen, Kendall, Kaleb, Josiah, and Issac; and, twelve beautiful great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 11am - 2pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service will follow at 2pm the day of visitation in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
