Loving husband and father Dr. William Scott French passed peacefully on December 7, 2023. Dr. French was born on June 19, 1954, in Highland Baptist Hospital to Dolores Graves French and Joseph William French. He attended Waggener High School in Louisville, KY, and was an active member at Walnut Street Baptist Church. He graduated in 1972. Dr. French attended Samford University in Birmingham, AL, and graduated summa cum laude in 1976 after studying theology and philosophy to become a theology professor. He attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for 2 years to pursue this passion, but ultimately set his sights on serving in a different field—medicine. He returned to Louisville, joined Southeast Christian Church, and attended the University of Louisville for medical school. He graduated in 1981. Known as "The King" by his fellow residents, Dr. French served at 3 separate emergency rooms as an ER physician. He started his own practice in 1986 and went on to great success for 37 years. Serving patients was his greatest passion, second only to spending time with his dog, Guinness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores Graves French and Joseph William French. He is survived by his wife, Leslie Carol French, dog Guinness, daughter Lauren French (Jonathan), sons William David French (Emily) and Jonathan Scott French (Maddie), sisters Janis Weifer (Joe), Cheryl Robinson (Steve), Cindy Kleier, Becky Carter (Edward), nieces Jessica Robinson and Courtney Carter Davis (Ryan), nephews Brian Dembek, Josh Dembek, Matt Robinson, and Chase Carter.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to be made to The Potters Wheel.
