

His infant sons, Ronald and Donald, preceded him to Heaven in 1946.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, LaVerne Dennis Spalding; daughter, Karen Kay Otey (Steve); and two granddaughters, Lauren and Kaitlyn.
Bill grew up in the Catholic Church and served as an altar boy for Mercy Academy. In recent years he faithfully attended Highview Baptist Church with his family. Bill Spalding served his country bravely on Guam during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps as a mess sergeant for the 485 Bomb Squadron. He was cofounder and president of Spalding and Day Tool and Die Company, that won many awards for excellence. Bill loved to spend time with his family, play tennis, fish, hunt, and make Kentucky Long Rifles. He was a member of a USTA Championship team. The Honorable Louie Nunn made him a Kentucky Colonel.
The Life Celebration of service will be on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
