William "Bob" Tennill, 98, a beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2026 surrounded by his family. Throughout his life, Bob was known for his steady faith, honest character, and the quiet wisdom he offered so freely-always thoughtful, always kind-hearted, and unwaveringly devoted to those he loved.
Bob was a graduate of Male High School for Boys and went on to receive his B.S. in Business from the University of Louisville. From there he would go on to become a CPA. Bob served with distinction in his professional life, holding leadership roles marked by diligence and integrity. He was Vice President and Financial Officer of Michelin and American Synthetic Rubber in Louisville, and he also served as the vice president of Stitzel-Weller with the VanWinkle Family. In every responsibility entrusted to him, he carried himself with loyalty and care, earning respect through consistency, resilience, and selfless service to others.
Bob's greatest joy was his family. He was married to Darleen Rose-Tennill for 34 wonderful and blessed years, a marriage defined by devotion and enduring love. He loved God with all his heart, and his faithful life was reflected in the way he treated others-with gentleness, sincerity, and a steady, reassuring presence. His friends will remember how Bob always made them feel welcome with his genuine and warm personality.
A Christian and a member of Hikes Point Christian Church, Bob's faith was a guiding light. He was also an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and purpose in the natural world, and he was a Kentucky Colonel-an honor that reflected the esteem in which he was held.
Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Darleen Rose-Tennill; his children, Brien, Lisa, Kent, Eric (Patty); his stepchildren, Keith Rose (Scarlette) and Kristy Rose Kaplan (Sanford); his grandchildren, Tommy, Natalie, and Ashley; his great-grandchild, Everet; and 4 step-grandchildren and 3 great step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hikes Point Christian Church, 2601 Hikes Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40218, on June 9, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place after the visitation at the church at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the neighbors (Leslie, Maverick and others) for always bringing Bob's newspapers to their front porch and looking out for them. Special thanks are also offered to Westport Place, Hosparus, caretakers Sadie and Toni, and to longtime friend, Franie, who faithfully called and brought over meals — kindnesses that will be remembered with deep appreciation.
