Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Julie; two daughters: Lindsey (Jason) Carter of Loveland, Colorado, and Erica (Chris) Economou of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, and three grandchildren.
Alan devoted his life to farming in Bremen, Indiana. Embodying the values of hard work and perseverance, Alan worked the same land as three generations of family before him.
After retiring in 2019, Alan and Julie moved to their favorite vacation spot, Colorado, to savor the beauty of the mountains and the serenity of their retirement together. There he could enjoy his love for the outdoors through challenging hikes and biking long distances across the scenic mountains. In the winter months, Alan enjoyed spending time skiing down the slopes of Copper and Winter Park. Together, he and Julie often traveled in their camper and sitting around the campsite with friends. In his downtime, he stayed busy through his lifelong hobby of woodworking, crafting beautiful pieces of furniture which remain fixtures in the homes of his friends and family.
Above all else, Alan cherished time with his family, sharing a special bond with his three grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Papa.
May he rest in peace and his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
In honor of Alan, a mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish at 10:00 am on July 5, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Pathways Hospice. https://pathways-care.org/ways-to-give/
