She was born to John and Amelia Becking on March 10, 1928 in Windsor, Colorado and graduated from Windsor High School.
Alvinia, a city girl, married Wilbur Blehm, a farmer and cattle feeder, and together they built a beautiful, fulfilling, and meaningful life together, partners in every sense of the word. They met at a Dutch-Hop and it was love at first sight. Alvinia felt that being a wife and mother was an important calling and she wrapped her life around those she loved and provided nurture, support and wisdom.
Alvinia and Wilbur moved to Loveland in 1952 and farmed in the Loveland/Berthoud area. Later when her children left the “nest”, Alvinia worked for 30 years at Mocks Fashions as a sales person, who provided custom alterations. She also assisted her clients in finding attire that enhanced their best qualities.
God gave Alvinia artistic talent in sewing, pottery, crafts, painting nature scenes and design work of all kinds, but her joy was being outside tending to her garden and flowers.
Alvinia had a strong belief in her personal God, who had intervened in her life when she was a child. She always gave God the credit for all things. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School when her children were in their youth. Alvinia attended and participated in church until she became too elderly and frail to make the trip. After she couldn’t attend any longer, she was very grateful that Zion provided outreach and support.
Alvinia is survived by her children, Madeline Alpert and Clarence Blehm; grandchildren, Caleb Cheak and wife, Gretchen of Marion, Iowa and Jared Cheak and wife Sherri of Ozark, Missouri and great-grandchildren, Christian, Gabriella, Jocelyn, Sophie, Marina, Emmeline and Mikhaila Cheak. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Darlene Blehm and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Blehm, her daughter, Marilyn Cheak, parents, John and Amelia Becking, sisters, Pearl Deines and Rose Pingree, son-in-law, Herb Alpert, sisters-in-law, Ruby Roth and Dorothy Weitzel and brothers-in-law, Reinholt Blehm, Roy Roth and John Weitzel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 815 East 16th Street, Loveland. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 8426 US-287, Ft. Collins.
