Aurora Rivera, 97, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at McKee Medical Center. She was born on January 28, 1928 in New Braunfels, Texas to Jacob Cardenas and Genoveva Rodriguez.
Aurora was raised in New Braunfels. On July 10, 1945, she married Raymundo Rivera, Sr. at St. John's Catholic Church in Loveland. They were married until his passing on September 11, 1989. Together they had 12 children; six boys and six girls. The family later moved to Colorado, where Aurora worked for Thompson School District for 25 years as a custodian for several Loveland area schools. She and her family enjoyed attending the Beef & Beans Day Festival at the Loveland Fairgrounds.
Aurora's hobbies included: planting flowers in the garden with her husband, sewing, cooking for her family and watching her soap operas in both English and Spanish. Above all, she wanted her kids to be happy and her family to get along.
Aurora is survived by her daughters, Carmen Rivera, Dora Pelayo and Laurie (Mike) Rivera; sons, Ray (Jackie) Rivera, Jack Rivera, Innocencio (Debbie) Rivera, Pablo Rivera and Andy Rivera; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymundo Rivera, Sr., children, Alice Herrera, Emma Martinez, Raymond Rivera, Jr.; parents, Genoveva Rodriguez and Jacob Cardenas and her siblings, Maria Morales, Beatrice Gonzalez, Viva Cardenas, Sarah Reil, Jacob Cardenas, Jr. and Tony Cardenas.
A visitation for Aurora will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025 followed by a Recitation of the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 West 12th Street, Loveland, Colorado. A Committal Service will follow at at Loveland Burial Park, 1702 North Cleveland Avenue, Loveland, Colorado.
