Cameron Jaye Cortes (“Cammy”), 46, passed away peacefully at her home in Loveland, Colorado. She was born in Alameda, California on October 8, 1979, to Lawerence Cortes and Carol Leffler. As a young child, Cameron was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Steven Lake.
Cameron spent most of her younger years in Elizabeth, Colorado before making her home in Loveland, where she met the love of her life and devoted spouse, Chase Brown. She dedicated her life and career to serving others, working as a social worker in disabled services and proudly owning and operating her own business, Considerate Care, for more than ten years. Through her business, Cameron helped individuals with disabilities gain important life skills and independence, work that was deeply meaningful to her. She also earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from Colorado State University.
Cameron will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, caring heart, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. She had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys and treasured the time she spent with family and friends.
She loved taking road trips with Chase, especially traveling through the mountains and exploring destinations across the United States each year. Cameron had a special love for animals and adored her cats, Mojo and Milo, as well as her beloved cat Buddy, who recently passed before her. She also enjoyed movies, music, watching wildlife, playing card and board games, and especially loved the beauty of autumn leaves changing color in the fall. Cameron was also a longtime fan of The Simpsons, Friends, and Felix the Cat, which always brought her comfort, laughter, and joy. Cooking with her mother was their fun time. They had a saying “Remember – you can always add to, but you can’t take away” in unison with a giggle.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her mother and stepfather, Carol Leffler and Steven Lake; her father, Lawerence Cortes; her brother, Tyler Lake; her loving spouse and lifetime partner, Chase Brown; her mother-in-law, Lisa Crocker; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
