Carole Anne MacKay Passed away on July 26th, 2024 after a long battle with Leukemia (CLL). Though she fought hard for 8 years, her Leukemia recently transformed into an aggressive Lymphoma. She was so strong that, most of the time, people did not even know she was sick.
Carole was born March 12, 1952 in Yonkers, NY to Stephan and Virginia Byrwa. She had four siblings: Stephan (Gail), Brian (Roe), Arthur (Kathy) and Lori (Peter). She was loved and treasured by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth "Kenny" MacKay of 52 years. After their first date in June 1968, she knew he was the one and he knew the same. She has one loving son, Graig MacKay and wife Julie and three grand-dogs, Herman, Leon and Little Charley Fufu.
Carole always loved helping people. At age 14, she became a candy striper at the local hospital. She went to college to become an x-ray technician, again the medical profession. She worked in private offices working her way up to chief mammographer. After retiring and moving to Colorado, she joined the Glacier View Volunteer Fire Department, again to help people.
She loved nature and traveled to many national parks. Bryce Canyon in Utah was her favorite. As a couple, she and Kenny spent a lot of time roaming the Roosevelt National Forest near their home in Larimer County.
Carole was loved by all, family friends, and neighbors alike. She will be missed terribly.
