Chase William Abanatha

April 9, 1988May 31, 2019

Chase William Abanatha of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Novi, Michigan, died Friday, May 31 2019 at Poudre Valley Hospital of a sudden Pulmonary Saddle Embolism. Chase was born in 1988 in Southfield Michigan, to Mark and Corinne (Gilligan) Abanatha. He was raised and educated in Novi Michigan, he moved to Colorado in 2015. Chase had many interests and hobbies, but his love was the outdoors. Ever since he was very young he loved to fish and hunt; he also loved mountain biking, rock climbing, snowboarding, wake boarding and organized hockey. He started riding dirt bikes at a very young age and loved riding the beautiful trails near our family cabin in Gaylord, Michigan. He was very interested in photography with the hope of one day becoming a professional photographer. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and drones. His most recent hobby was tying his own flys for fly fishing on the beautiful Colorado rivers. Chase will be greatly missed by his grandparents: Beverly Abanatha of Novi, Michigan, Lawrence and Sue Gilligan, Bowling Green, Kentucky; aunts and uncles: Don and Diane (Abanatha) Patrick of Northville Michigan, Daniel and Andrea Gilligan of Matthews, North Carolina and Al and Shawn (Gilligan) Rasimas of Largo Florida; cousins: Brian Patrick of Chicago, Illinois and Andrea (Patrick) Deighton of South Lyon, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Abanatha; grandmother, LouAnn (Tanner) Gilligan and uncle, Brian Abanatha Chase also has many loving family members throughout the US. Please visit to share your remembrances of Chase.

Dear Cory and Mark
I was very saddened to hear about your Chase. I never met Chase but he sounded like a wonderful free loving young man. How does someone say goodbye to their child. A sorrow I just can't imagine.
May the Lord be with you and give you strength at this time and our deepest sympathies. Stay strong.

What can we say. It was a great surprise to us when we were notified of Chase's passing. The first memory that came to mind was when he was little and would come to visit. He was always so happy. We saw him at his aunt Shawn's wedding and he was still the happy guy we saw when he was little. Memories are the best healing God gave us. May everyone have a memory of this amazing young man.

Precious memories for sure and we pray that they will bring you comfort.

Chase you deserved a life as beautiful as your soul. You weren't with us long enough. I'll never forget finding your tooth at the bottom of the hot tub. Like a needle in a hay stack! Lol I'm glad we both out grew that kind of thing though. And I'm glad that we remained friends and in touch even after I moved, then you moved. It brings me peace though, that you were able to live in Colorado and be surrounded by the wilderness you loved so much. You were born to be in the wilderness Chase! It was your sanctuary! I will miss u buddy. I will never forget you. I love you Chase.
