Daniel Louis Scariato of Julesburg, Colorado was a loving brother, father and grandfather and dedicated friend. Dan departed peacefully surrounded by his children on Thursday October 28, 2021. He was 66.
Dan was well traveled, followed his own path, always rooted for the underdog, and stood up for what he believed in. A natural-born competitor, Dan was an accomplished athlete, and enjoyed years of schooling his children in every sport imaginable—especially basketball. He was a life-long learner, always willing to share his passion and unmatched knowledge on numismatics, mining, history, and politics.
Dan was a master craftsman, however, he also enjoyed a variety of entrepreneurial ventures throughout his lifetime, many of which he pursued in partnership with his son, Nick. He was a proud American who valued family deeply and was extremely proud of his Italian-American heritage.
Those who knew him will miss his playful banter, his seemingly unlimited knowledge of all things construction, and his extensive generosity. Those who loved him will miss his soft heart and formative, unbreakable strength.
Dan is survived by his son Nick Scariato and his partner, Desire Zilich and cherished grandsons Nickoli and Landon; his daughter April Martin and her husband, Luke Martin and grandchildren Ava, Isaac and Chase; and his youngest son Dominic Scariato. He will be deeply missed by his beloved sisters, Marie Chrastina, June Scariato, Gina Scariato, and his nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond of.
