Don was born on August 3, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Alfred and Thelma (Haynes) Price. He graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1955 and was a member of their basketball team. He loved growing up on the farm and working the fields with his grandfather and uncles.
After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and entered into a 20 year career as an Chief Petty Officer E7.
On January 20, 1962, Don married Kathleen Claire (Grieser) Price whom he met through a blind date and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. After serving in the Navy, Don and Kathleen moved to New Concord, KY where Don enjoyed farming, working at Ken Lake Foods where he retired, and passionately helping out his neighbors as the “fix it” guy with welding and any number of “handy man” jobs. He loved his tool workshop and sharing his knowledge with creating and problem-solving solutions with his mathematical thinking. Later, Don and Kathleen moved to Dawsonville, GA and spent their retirement years. Their last move was to Fort Collins, CO.
Don was known as a “card shark” at the local AmVets club playing poker. He was a man of few words and showed his love through unwanted fanfare, not one for any attention.
