Dorthey was born June 15, 1932 in Wilmington, Delaware to Leverett M. and Charlotte A. (Anderson) Gamet. She graduated from high school in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. On December 11, 1953, Dorthey married Stanley D. Huggenberger in Denver, Colorado. They had three children; Diane, Alan, and Rene. Stanley’s employment with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation took the family from Loveland to Grand Lake, Colorado in 1962 and back to Loveland in 1970, where they had resided since.
Dorthey worked at Hewlett-Packard for many years. She was a professional seamstress making drapes for homes and sewing uniforms for the Loveland High School Cheerleaders in the 1970’s. Her biggest joy in life was being a homemaker and having her children, grandchildren, and great grandkids around as much as possible.
Dorthey was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Arthur Charles "Bud" Gamet, and Ronald Gamet. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her children, Diane Huggenberger (Mike Gravitz), Alan Huggenberger (Judy), and Rene Jones (Randy); grandchildren, Jake Huggenberger, Lindsey (Jones) Norton (Andrew), Shelby Jones (Cody Vogel), and Audrey Jones; and by her great grandkids, Lydia & Soren Norton, and Carson & Koda Vogel. She is also survived by her sisters, Darlene Elliott and Sharon Metcalf, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation for Dorthey on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Allnutt Funeral Service - Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave, Loveland, Colorado 80538. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Allnutt Funeral Service with a reception to follow. Dorthey will be laid to eternal rest in a private family burial, prior to her services.
