Eileen Marie Gooding, 79, of Loveland, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Born in Boise, ID, she was the seventh child of the late Fred & Theresa Kuhn. Eileen graduated from Pueblo High School in 1964. She met Don Gooding in January of 1968 (she liked him because of his old car - a 1930 Model A) and they were married August 3, 1968.
Eileen was a stay-at-home mom until she went back to work in 1987 as a school secretary and worked for various school districts in Colorado until her retirement in 2010 from Thompson School District in Loveland, CO. Eileen was a loving mother and wife, but her favorite role was grandma.
Growing up in such a large family (1 of 16 children), one could often get lost in the crowd, so at family gatherings and reunions, Eileen had to be the life of the party, coming up with all sorts of crazy antics, her favorite being sticking baby carrots up her nose. She cheated at every game she played and if she couldn’t cheat, she wouldn’t play.
Eileen always had stashes of chocolate hidden around the house so her kids and husband wouldn’t get any. However, the grandkids could have bowls of chocolate chips and ice cream anytime they visited.
She and Don moved several times during their marriage and remodeled 5 different houses and built one in Arizona from the ground up. She was very fond of gardening, photography, sewing and cleaning – all of which she did very well.
After retiring, she enjoyed watching the grandkids do their various activities, such as plays, concerts, cheerleading and hockey. Her favorite being when the boys got old enough that they could start checking!
Surviving are her husband of 56 years; children, Courtney Gooding of Wellington, CO, Colby Gooding of Monument, CO and Erin (Kevin) Comstock of Johnstown, CO; grandchildren, Aidan, Corbin, Gavin, Rilyn, and Aaralyn Comstock and Casey and Laina Gooding. As well as her sisters Dorothy McCoy, Shirley Mikita, Kathy LaVelle, Jeanette (Paul) Wipprecht, Mary Lapora, Lorrie (Keith) Miller, Sharon (Jeff) Stevenson and brothers Dave Kuhn, Ken (Margie) Kuhn, Charlie Kuhn, Mike Kuhn, Larry (Bettie) Kuhn, Tim Kuhn.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Steve Kuhn and Tom Kuhn.
A Catholic mass will be held for Eileen 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Church (1730 W 12th St; Loveland, CO 80537) with a reception to follow. The family will also be planning a less formal memorial gathering for late Spring 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or The Alzheimer’s Association.
