Elaine Faye Wookey Warren-England, age 90, of Berthoud, Colorado, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at Pathways Hospice of Fort Collins. Elaine was born at home in rural Montgomery County, Iowa on October 31, 1935. She was the oldest of four children born to Adrian and Faye Wookey.
Early years were spent attending a one-room schoolhouse while also helping out with life on the farm, and she later graduated with the Red Oak High School class of 1953. In December of that same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Duane Ray Warren, of the Coburg, Iowa area. The wedding took place at Hawthorne Church near Red Oak, Iowa. They lived in Arizona after marriage for a short time before settling in Loveland, Colorado.
Elaine had many jobs in the early years of her marriage, including cutting meat for Safeway and providing childcare in her home. In 1976 she completed training to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then worked the night shift on the surgical floor at the hospital and later worked many years for Drs. King and Drennan (pediatricians) in Loveland.
At age 48, Elaine became a widow when Duane passed away unexpectedly. She later married another Iowa boy, Dale Eugene England, in 1988. Throughout her married life, Elaine enjoyed raising a large vegetable garden and then canning its produce. She also took pride in her flower gardens, sewing clothing and costumes for her daughters, baking, and being a wonderful cook. Her holiday meals were always special. She instilled an early love of learning in her daughters and provided many educational opportunities for her girls. Elaine served as a Girl Scout leader, and did the bookkeeping for Duane’s construction business until his passing. As a family of four, they enjoyed many camping trips, Jeep adventures, and bike rides.
Dale and Elaine enjoyed traveling within the United States and abroad, and loved to entertain the grandchildren at their cabin near Glen Haven. Elaine maintained her love of rural farm life throughout her lifetime and was also an animal lover. She enjoyed raising chickens for a time, and her beloved cat, Callie, always found a spot on her lap.
Since Dale’s passing in 2014, Elaine especially loved to join friends for lunch and maintained many friendships over the years. She loved people and cherished friends became like family.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth Wookey, her first husband Duane Warren, her second husband Dale England, and her daughter Lois Warren Petersen.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Warren Dolch and husband, Steve, of rural Villisca, Iowa, grandchildren Matt (Dana) Dolch, Michael (Lillie) Dolch, Marshall (Adelai) Dolch, and Mikayla Dolch, son-in-law Kyle Petersen, grandchildren Kirk Petersen, Chad (Deseray) Petersen, and Troy Petersen, stepsons Lawrence England, Richard England, grandchildren Courtney England Morris, D.J.
