I have such warm, fond memories of Ernie from time as a volunteer at Catholic Charities Northern in Fort Collins. I appreciated his patient mentoring as a young member on the Board of Directors there as well as his guidance as I navigated graduate school in social work. I thought very highly of Ernie, and I felt inspired by his values for social justice and service to those in need. I will miss him, and I send warm thoughts and prayers to his loved ones. Many blessings!

Ernie was one of my favorite bosses (Commissioner) at the Loveland Housing Authority (LHA). He had the ability to to see issues from multiple lenses and you could always be assured that his recommendations were focused on social justice and fairness. Ernie was responsible for establishing a resident scholarship program at LHA that has distributed over $200,000 to residents for higher education. I am so sorry I missed his services. I just found out about the family and our community's loss of a great man, father, husband and leader. Rest in Peace my friend. You made a difference!

For me my cousin Ernie was a shining star, humble, kind and noble individual.
He was the most studious person I knew growing up, and he was the only one from our family who graduated St. Patrick's academy with honors. He was very athletic, I remember listening to the state basketball tournament, we played against our arch rival from North Platte. My mom, Michael and myself listened excitingly to the game broadcasted over the radio and the sports reporter shouted "That Giron might be short, but he has a strong head that he actually broke the nose of one of the players from the opposing team". Although all the odds were against St. Patricks to win, St. Patricks' players including Ernie proved them wrong and WON the STATE Basketball Championship.
In my eyes, his star is shining brighter than ever right now!
To you Norma, your children and grandchildren, all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolences to the Giron Family, my parents knew your father and had great respect for him and the work he did in Northern Colorado. He was a beacon of hope to many undocumented and disenfranchised communities. His legacy will be long remembered.

Thank you for sharing him with us, may the memories of him bring you great comfort.

Ernie was a gold standard. I am honored to have known him from 8th grade on. We both attended a seminary in Wisconsin for a year and a half where we enjoyed some great times. If ever there was a person I would trust my life with it would be Ernie. We had a chance to catch up at our 50th. class reunion and after 5 min. it was like nothing had changed, It saddens me to hear of his passing, the world is a little less gentle and honorable without his presence.

You are in our thoughts today. We were fortunate enough to know your family because Carlos was in the same class at school as our son Cody. They were also in scouts together. We will keep you in our prayers, knowing that Ernie's memory will always be with you.

I send my prayers to Ernie’s wife , family, and friends. I met Ernie when he was Director of Catholic Community Services in Greeley. I admired his commitment to the poor Latino’s in our community, he was respected by his board members and our community. Through his leadership we have housing for the low income in Greeley. Thank you Ernie

I had the pleasure of working as a volunteer at the Arvada Community Food Bank when Ernie was the Executive Director. At the beginning of our 9:00 a.m. shift, Ernie always greeted each team member with his warm smile and words of support and ended with a thank you for our volunteerism at the Food Bank. During his time at the Food Bank, the staff and volunteers were always recipients of his thankfulness during holiday and summer appreciation events. His supervision and extension of friendship made us all want to make the Arvada Community Food Bank an exemplary model of community outreach. Thank you for sharing wonderful Ernie with me. May his legacy bring back happy memories as you heal from the loss of his physical presence.

In my early years 1982 - 1984 I would spend my summers in Colorado with Sarah. During those young formative years I remember when Andrea would keep her parents up crying and crying. Ernie and Norma would take turns walking her and cradeling her in their arms and I would ask Sarah why does she cry so much. After the walks didn't work he would take her for a drive and come home with a quite baby and get a wink of sleep before the next episode. His gentleness, patience and abundance of love for his family is a memory I will always treasure! Thank you Ernie for having a profound influence in my life and to my cousins whom shared your parents with me! Rest in Paradise and when God grants you your heavenly and angelic wings, soar like an eagle!
