Georgi Piskunov

Georgi Piskunov was born in 1948 in Novosibirsk, Russia. He was born to Sergei and Evgeniya. He had an older sister Olga. His family moved to Akademgorodok, the Siberian Scientific Center, in the early 60s.

Even in his early student years, Georgi showed extraordinary skills in computer science. After graduating from Novosibirsk State University in 1972 he worked at the Institute of Nuclear Physics for many years where he built the first computer in Russia, that’s still being widely used. He was also a supervisor to many students teaching computer science at the Novosibirsk State University. Georgi got a Ph.D. in 1985. He possessed unprecedented knowledge of the computer science, always coming up with innovative and creative solutions. Georgi collaborated and worked at CERN for many years, and was part of the supercollider team at Waxahachie, Texas. In the early 90s, his organizational skills allowed him to start a large telecom company, Novokom, in Novosibirsk, Russia. He moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1998 and continued his career here. He moved to several companies where he developed new technologies and computer systems.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elena, daughter, Maria, and his two precious granddaughters Paulina and Katya. He was a brilliant physicist, engineer, teacher, and entrepreneur. He was the heart of every company, a loving, caring man with an exceptional sense of humor, always surrounded by friends and family. He was always ready to help and support no matter what. Fishing, painting, and hanging out with his granddaughters, Polly and Katya, was his favorite pastime.

A Funeral Mass for Georgi will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 9:00 AM at Saint Spyridon Orthodox Church, 807 W 29th St, Loveland, CO 80538. Following the Funeral Mass will be a Graveside Committal at 1:00 PM at Lakeside Cemetery, 1702 N. Cleveland, Loveland, CO.
