Geraldine Frances Charvat
March 4, 1926 – July 5, 2019
Geraldine Charvat passed away Friday morning July 5th, 2019 at Good Samaritan Loveland Village. Gerry was born to Clifford E. and Borghild White in Moline, Illinois on March 4, 1926.
Gerry graduated from Moline High School in 1944, and then attended Iowa State where she met her future husband, Jack Charvat. They married in 1947, and lived first in the White summer cabin on Campbells Island, before settling in Rapidscity, IL, later moving to Moline. Jeff was born in 1949, Sue followed in 1954.
In 1969, they moved to Rapid City, SD and owned the Mr Donut franchise, with two stores in Rapid and a satellite store in Keystone. Later there was Taco John's in Olympia, WA and Papa Murphy's in Omaha, NE. Gerry settled in Loveland, CO in 2012.
Gerry was an avid gardener, learning about new crops and methods everywhere she lived. In Olympia she had her prize garden, several acres with a fruit tree orchard. Gerry loved her dogs, which included 2 Dachshunds, 2 Old English Sheepdogs, 3 Norwegian Elkhounds- and one Basset Hound who peed in her shoe.
Gerry loved traveling, but some of her favorite trips were the short drive and ferry ride to Vancouver Island. She loved playing tourist at Murchies Tea Company and especially at Roger's Chocolates (what a sweet tooth), and wandering through Bouchard's Gardens.
Gerry is survived by her son Jeff, her daughter Sue, her dog Katie (Maltese mix), her brother Charles White and his wife Faye, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, and her sisters Betty Hansen, Amy Hansen Vanarsdall, and Patricia Daw. Gerry requested no services.
