Harold Lee Daniels, 91, of Loveland passed away peacefully on October 14, 2018. Harold was the grandson of immigrants. On the paternal side, Thomas Henry Daniels homesteaded east of Milliken along the Big Thompson River before Greeley existed. Harold’s father was born on the homestead and Harold was born in Greeley CO on April 23, 1927 to Walter Blane Daniels and Anna G. (Johnson) Daniels. He was raised on the family farm. Harold’s maternal grandparents, Anna Helen (Berg) and John Johnson immigrated to Greeley from Sweden.
He attended the Daniels School House in Milliken and Milliken High School. Harold went on to University of Northern Colorado. During his life he farmed and ranched with his father on the family homestead. Notably, he was an Army Veteran in the Pre-Korean War. Harold also worked for the FDA and CU Medical School in Denver. Later he enjoyed home remodeling and was a talented craftsman. Lastly, Harold was a chef and Co-owner of The Swan House Tearoom.
Harold married the love of this life, Madeline P. (Rock) December 02, 1972 in Denver Colorado. They resided in Milliken, Denver and Loveland Colorado. Together they have one son, Thomas Henry Daniels.
Harold was an avid reader, traveler and story teller. He loved the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed skiing and sailing. Harold was an animal lover and only believed in hunting if the animal could shoot back. As a talented chef, he enjoyed cooking. Born and raised in Colorado, Harold was a true Bronco fan! His favorite pastime was listening to the scores of great musicals and Strauss Waltzes (reminding him of his ice dancing days).
Harold belonged to the Warnoco Roller skating club and Denver Ice dancing Club, He was a member of the Loveland and Weld County Historical Societies.
Harold is survived by his wife Madeline P. Daniels of Loveland, CO, son Thomas Henry (Ashley E.) Daniels of Plano, TX, grandchildren Hudson Aston Egan Daniels, Sinclair Reagan Daniels and Eliza Lee Daniels of Plano, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, numerous uncles and aunts, cousins and many many friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sierra Club or The Cowboy Church of Johnstown.
Visitation will take place Friday evening, October 19, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8pm at Allnutt Funeral Service. Burial Service will be October 20, 2018 10:00 am in Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley, CO. Memorial Service will be held later that day 3:00 pm at Allnutt Funeral Service with a reception to follow.
