Pat Birdsall was born in 1941 in McCook, Nebraska, to Ivan Lester and Margaret Louise (Kennedy) Birdsall. He attended school at a small country school south of North Platte, NE, then St. Patricks Catholic School in North Platte, and graduated from Paxton High School in Paxton, NE. He spent one year at Pueblo Junior College in Pueblo, CO. He enlisted in the Air Force and served almost 5 years. During his time in the service he was a radio operator, often working in remote locations; he ended up traveling to more than 30 countries before his honorable discharge. He then began his career with IBM in Boulder, CO.
On September 9th, 1967, Pat was united in marriage to Viola J. Kenney in Boulder, CO. The couple built a home east of Boulder where they lived for 18 years, along with their two sons. Pat then was transferred to Colorado Springs, where they built a home near Garden of the Gods. After 4 years that job ended and the couple was relocated to Texas, where they built another home outside of Round Rock. After 6 years there, Pat was transferred back to the Boulder IBM location, and the couple built another home north of Berthoud. Pat worked 4 more years and retired in February 2000 after 34 years with the company. Pat and Vi made life-long friendships every place they lived.
Pat loved camping, boating, hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling. The couple took several trips driving to Alaska with a camper to fish and take in the sights. He especially enjoyed hunting with his sons and friends and spending time with his grandkids who lived next door for many years.
In 2017, Pat suffered an injury that prevented him from doing many of his favorite things. His condition progressively worsened and resulted in him being placed in a skilled nursing setting at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, CO in 2023. He died on Friday, June 12, 2026.
