Jim Argo was born the second of four children in Grand Island Nebraska on September 25, 1941, he spent the majority of his life in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains he and his family loved; passing on February 23, 2021 with family at his side at the age of 79.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and his wife Elizabeth Lou Argo, and is survived by his daughter Joan McCorkhill, his four sons Jeff, Mark, Chris, and Steven Argo, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous cousins.
Jim Graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in June of 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. In school he met and ultimately married the love of his life Betty Satorie, raising five kids during their forty-eight year marriage together. He had a long professional career developing software for large corporations and personal business ventures, including programming one of the first Kiosks in Vail and Beaver Creek that would use credit cards for ski pass purchases.
He overcame tremendous adversity and personal loss early in life, embracing a fierce and unfaltering commitment to individual accountability and absolute honesty. He acknowledged and embraced his imperfection, placing high value in reason and intellect, as illustrated by his personal achievements winning a prestigious Mathematics award in college and belonging to the Intertel Society.
When he wasn’t working, Jim could be found with his wife and kids camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, golfing, working on cars, and writing periodic Op-Ed articles for the local newspaper. The serenity he found in the solitude of the mountains took him on several trips to Alaska and many other remote mountain areas throughout his life
He was known to say that, in death, he prayed for more mercy than justice, which he has assuredly earned.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be scheduled later this year.
