Janet grew up with four siblings, Robert, Carole, Richard, and Eleanor. Another sister, Linda died in infancy.
Janet attended public schools in Omaha, and Council Bluffs, Iowa. In June 1955, the Wreed family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Janet spent the next nine years on the Union College campus where she graduated from Union College Academy (High School) and Union College. She earned a bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in May 1964.
While at Union College, Janet met Richard Wilson and they were married in August 1964. The Wilsons lived in Texas while Richard fulfilled his two years of military commitment with the United States Army at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio. Meanwhile, Janet taught school at Valley Grande Academy in Weslaco, Texas. The Wilsons adopted two infants from Nebraska Children's Home. Brian was born in 1967 and Lisa was born in 1969. Janet loved being a stay at home mom.
In May 1971, the Wilsons packed up and moved to Longmont, Colorado to live near family members. Janet took a job as a Dietary Director at Foothills Care Center (The Peaks) in Longmont. Janet became a very active member of the Longmont Seventh-day Adventist Church from 1972-2007.
She also became very involved in roller skating and earned a certificate from President Kennedy's Physical Fitness Award in roller skating, and with her skating, she raised funds for the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
Janet and Richard were divorced in October 1985. She married Larry Honstein on September 13, 1987 in Niwot, Colorado.
Janet and Larry began to travel on long car trips from coast to coast in the United States and everywhere in between. These trips became the fondest memories of their 35 years together. She enjoyed recording these trips and family gatherings on scrapbooks. Janet also loved to organize family picnics, graduation celebrations, and Christmas parties. Because Janet was born so close to Christmas, it was always her favorite holiday decorating, baking, planning, and more.
Janet considered herself a "lifelong-learner" so in 1984 she enrolled in Front Range Community College, Westminster, Colorado, primarily studying History and Humanities. She was on the dean's list almost every semester.
During the past ten years, Janet has spent many hours researching her genealogy, also writing stories featuring her ancestors.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents: two brothers, Robert Wreed and Richard Wreed; two sisters, an infant Linda Jean Wreed and Carole Maston. Janet is survived by her husband Larry, Loveland; one sister Eleanor Dellapina, Loveland; three sisters-in-law, Shirlee Wreed, Grand Junction, Colorado, Delight Byrd, Omaha, Nebraska, and Cheryl Angelucci, Oshkosh, Nebraska; one son, Brian Wilson, Tampa, Florida; one daughter, Lisa Wilson, Longmont, Colorado; one step-son, Loren Honstein (Rebecca Mills- Honstein), Loveland; one step-daughter, Sara; two step-grandsons, and two step-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
