Jo Carolyn Mattson

Jo graduated from cosmetology school in 1971 and worked in several salons until she married Tim Mattson in 1973. Together they built a family of five children, raising them through the many moves that came with life on Air Force bases. Wherever the family landed, Jo made a home.

In the middle of raising five children, Jo never stopped creating. She wrote poetry and short stories, baked for family and friends, sang in the choir, and gave her time to others through volunteer work with the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Above all, Jo loved her family and her dogs.

Jo is survived by her husband, Tim Mattson; her daughters, Brandy Cracauer, Crystal Pare, Jamie Huff, and Stephanie Drohman; her son, Timothy Shane Mattson; her sister, Dona Benson; and her brother, Larry Wooten. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Astra Cracauer, Stephen Cracauer, Logan Pare, Lincoln Drohman, Olivia Mattson, and Beatrice Mattson, along with her nephew, Corey Hagen, her niece, Heidi Pickett, and many other loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jana Taft; her mother, LaVern Joubert; and her stepfather, Donald Joubert.

Jo's warmth, creativity, and devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
