JoAnn Centeno was born November 9th, 1942, in Detroit Michigan and grew up in Royal Oak Michigan. JoAnn had many careers throughout her life, and after graduating high school she worked as a beautician, eventually owning her own salon. She decided a career change was in order and followed her artistic side. She began working as a cartoonist for such notable companies as Hanna Barbara, Ralph Bakshi, and Walt Disney. During these years, she developed an even deeper appreciation for art, and took a position with the Walt Disney corporation as an Archivist, responsible for cataloging, and storing some of the most recognizable art in the entertainment industry. JoAnn also had a desire to expand her knowledge and completed a college degree program, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design, a field she worked in until her retirement. However, the career most important to her, was motherhood; one she happily worked at for 54 years. She deeply loved her family. She is survived by her husband Enrique "Rick", and their two children Joseph and Lisa. She is also survived by her mother Carolyn, sister Susan, and her brother William. She is preceded in death by her father Andrew, and brother Michael. JoAnn died in her sleep, of natural causes, at her home on August 7th, 2019.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Joann. I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with her son Joe. Through knowing Joe, I make the observation that she raised a fine young man. As a parent, that is a high measure of success in life. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
