He was born on June 27, 1941 in Chicago, IL to John and Carole (Ebert) Walker.
His love of the mountains brought him to Colorado Springs in 1971. John was an avid outdoorsman and huge sports fan but always put his faith, family and friends first. He worked hard and had a successful 40 year career in the telecom industry. John was extremely generous with his free time, he was quick to step-up to coach youth football, baseball and soccer and had a long-lasting positive impact on hundreds of kids in Colorado Springs and beyond.
John loved animals, particularly dogs and more specifically Labradors. He was kind and compassionate, and like his favorite dog breed he had a wonderful ability to make people feel special, smile and laugh. John was also loyal - he loved his country and spent 7 years in the Air National Guard, worked for the same company for his entire career, was a near-constant at every event his kids and grandkids participated in, and was forever a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks… His family and friends will miss him deeply and are eternally grateful for the ‘85 Bears and the 2016 Cubs!
He is survived by his wife Sandee, his stepsons Michael (Krista) Griffin and Brian (Karen) Griffin and grandchildren Cole and Courtney. He is also survived by his former wife Joan and their sons John (René) Walker and Michael (Allyson) Walker, daughter Michelle (Chance) Isaac, and grandchildren Sarah, Samuel, Payton, Giana, and Celia.
John used to joke that he wanted ‘to go’ while hunting, fishing or watching the Bears. He did just that on October 3rd while watching his Bears, and they won!
