John Francis Western

John Francis Western, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Banner North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado, at the age of 72.

John was born on October 26, 1953, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Harry and Dorothy Western. He grew up alongside his brothers, Harry and Thomas Western, forming lifelong bonds of love and laughter.

As a young man, John moved to Colorado, where he built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and service. A devoted husband to Rebecca Western, John was the proud father of Jennifer Western and Ryan Western, and a loving stepfather to John Freshwater. He was also a cherished grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.

John was known for his boundless generosity and his ability to make anyone feel like family. He dedicated countless hours to St. Vincent de Paul at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland, where he managed the food pantry and served families in need with compassion and humility.

He found peace and joy in nature, especially when fishing or working outdoors with his hands, and could often be found smiling beneath the Colorado sun. John had a gift for connection — he could meet a stranger and instantly make a friend. His kindness, humor, and selfless heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Those blessed to have shared life with John will remember him for his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, and his quiet strength. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, we take comfort in knowing he is rejoicing in heaven, surrounded by light and peace.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hunter Chapel in Loveland, Colorado.

The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish in Loveland. A luncheon to celebrate John’s life will follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the Western Warriors fundraising team, led by John’s brother, Thomas Western, continuing John’s lifelong commitment to helping others.
