

Joyce Mary Weldon (Jackson), age 84, passed away at her home in Loveland on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, after a short illness. Joyce was born on October 19, 1938 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Elizabeth Owatz. She was adopted at 6 days of age by loving parents Annie and Harry Jackson. She grew up on the family farm in Condie, SK and had fond memories of laying in the back of their pickup truck gazing up at the stars.
She moved into town with her maternal grandmother when she started school. She attended Albert Community School, Kitchner School and Scott Collegiate in Regina, SK graduating in 1956.
She married Donald Smith in Regina, SK in 1957 and moved to Moose Jaw, SK. They divorced in 1963 and Joyce moved back to Regina before moving to Toronto in 1968. In 1973 she moved to Taylor, MI and married Luther Weldon. She was widowed in 1990 and later moved to Woodhaven, MI before moving to Colorado in 1996.
Joyce worked for Federated Co-operative Limited in the retail grocery industry in her early working years in Regina and Consumers Glass in Toronto, but the majority of her career was spent in the automotive industry at American Sunroof in Southgate, Michigan and Best Top in Broomfield, Colorado as a Senior Buyer/Procurement.
In retirement she was a Mary Kay cosmetics consultant for several years.
As a teenager she was a leader in CGIT (Canadian Girls in Training). In the mid 1960's while working in the grocery industry Joyce served as the Salad Queen, tiara and all. She performed the ceremonial first kick at the start of the Saskatchewan Rough Riders football game.
As a young woman she was a skilled seamstress making her own clothes and clothing for her daughter.
She was a den mother for her son's Cub Scout troops and a member of the Rebakah lodge. She served as president and secretary on the board for the Crestone Community HOA, in Loveland, CO.
Joyce had a passion for English teas and beautiful flowers, especially the roses, pansies, and peonies in her garden. She loved snowmen, butterflies, Thomas Kincade paintings, scented candles, the Buicks she drove and Christmas plum pudding. Joyce embraced technology and had all the gadgets including her programmable embroidery machines.
Joyce had a busy social life attending quilt shows, machine embroidery classes, garden tours, concerts, lunches, English teas, plays, playing Mexican train and canasta.
She gifted her family and friends with her many beautiful embroidery creations of sheets, pillow cases, blankets, towels, pot holders, aprons, quilts, shirts, and bibs. She enjoyed and had a talent for home decorating as was evident when you visited her lovely home.
Joyce had a very classic style and as a friend noted, she was always well put together. Always looking younger than her years she took pride in looking her best.
Life's challenges taught Joyce to be strong, independent, and spirited. She was generous with her family, friends, and many charities.
She loved her family and adored her great grandchildren.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Annie Jackson and William (Harry) Jackson of Regina, SK; an infant daughter, Sheryl Ann Smith; her husband, Luther Weldon of Taylor, MI; her brother, Keith Jackson of Mclean, SK; her sisters, Ruth Jurgensen of Trenton, Ont and Beverly Simes of Ft Quapelle, SK; and her ex-husband, Donald Smith of Penticton, BC.
She is survived by her 3 children, Terrilee Lang (Dale) of Loveland, CO, Christopher Weldon (Sheryl) of Orange City, FL, and Michael Weldon (Angie) of Sparta TN; her brother, Bruce Jackson (Linda) of Regina, SK; brother-in-law, Graham Simes of Ft Quapelle, SK; sister-in-law, Mary Jackson of Regina, SK; and a recently discovered biological sister, Joan Lockett (Don) of Sarnia, Ontario. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Lang (Jessica) of CA, Kelsey Mueller (Cole) of ID, Lauren Voit (Cory), Jenna Weldon, and Jordan Weldon of FL; her great-grandchildren, Kennedy Voit and Bennett Mueller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be a celebration of life tea in Loveland, CO at her daughter's home, 3421 Kyle Circle, Friday June 23, 2023 12-3pm and an interment funeral at Regina Memorial Gardens in Regina, SK, Canada on July 22, 2023.
