Mrs. Karolyn Conway Moran, of Walden, CO, was called to her heavenly home at 9:20 AM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the age of 75 with family & friends near her at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Karolyn was born to parents Roy and LuDella Conway on August, 15, 1943 in Salina, KS when her father was stationed in the Army. She grew up in Pierce City, Missouri as the eldest of five and attended Elementary school at Freistatt Lutheran School. In 1956, her family moved to Colorado where she attended Adams City Junior/Senior High School in Denver and was active in the Lutheran church, youth group and choir.
In 1960, she was married, and began a family where she raised four children before divorcing in 1981. Upon relocating from Ogallala, Nebraska to Walden, Colorado, she met Gerald Lowell Moran & became his loving wife of 34 years on July 26, 1985. She was the Accountant for M&S Fertilizer in Jackson County until its closure.
Always a working woman & busy wife & Mom, she was employed at Nabisco, TRW, & as a police dispatcher for the Ogallala Police Department. After coming to Walden, she was known for her baking & cooking skills at local restaurants where she left her mark with cuisine, confections and of course, her legendary feistiness. Like her mother, she was quite the domestic diva with an oven and supplied local buyers with her well known mouth-watering bakery delights including fresh cinnamon rolls, pies, cheesecakes, and others made in her very own kitchen. Besides providing delectable desserts, she always added a helping of hugs, kisses, laughter, tears & always a consoling, listening ear. Karolyn was a dedicated wife, mother & grandmother who treasured and embraced family time spent together. She especially loved her role as Nana and even raised her eldest grandson.
She also inherited her late father’s green thumb. Entering the home of a Gardening Goddess was a delight filled with tropical & beautiful varieties of well-kept blooming plants in every direction, especially her personal favorite, Orchids. This hobby most closely depicts her life story as told by the famous children’s book called ‘The Giving Tree’ by Shel Silverstein because she unselfishly gave all that she had to place other’s needs ahead of her own, and had love & affection for all that came to her.
Karolyn is survived by her Husband, Lowell Moran, Sisters LouElla (Duane) Armstrong, Virginia (Ronald) Yeager, Brother Roy (Jan) Conway Jr. & an Uncle, Oren Fritz. Her children include Brenda (John) Lang, Gregory (Marina) Buethe, Roxann Rupar, & Kimberly (Larry) Simonson. Grandchildren include Tyson (Amanda) Holmes & Coleman Patrick, Gregory Buethe Jr., Anthony Buethe, & Amanda Buethe, Sonya (Brian) Griffin & AJ Rupar, Marcus Lang & Mason Lang. Great-grandchildren include Brycen Griffin, Jaxson Griffin, Serenity Needham, Bo Patrick, & Luke Patrick. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loyal friends and other loving family members.
She is preceded in death by Parents Roy Conway Sr. & LuDella Conway, and Sister Diana (Marvin) Alcorn.
At Karolyn’s request, no services will be held. Cremation ashes may be celebrated at a later date. Condolences, offerings or cards may be sent to Lowell Moran or Kim Simonson at P.O. Box 823, Walden, Colorado 80480.
