Lee Edward Bending, 53, of Milliken, Colorado, passed away on August 3, 2025. Born on October 11, 1971, in Omaha, Nebraska, Lee lived a life marked by resilience, deep love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and passions.
Lee is survived by his devoted wife, Paulette Bending; his two beloved children, Norah Bending (Thomas Stager) and Harley Bending (Madison Hampton); his parents, Margaret and Leslie Bending; his sister, Becky Granier (Jimmy Granier); all who held a special place in his heart as part of the family. He was also a proud uncle to Abby Fortenberry (Jonathan Fortenberry) and Dalton Granier (Kim LaSalle).
Lee was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, and friend—always putting family first and fiercely loving those around him.
Lee was a man of many talents and interests. He found joy in the outdoors, spending time hiking, fishing, and camping. A true mountain man at heart with an old soul. He loved hiking, fishing, camping, time at the archery range, as well as visiting the gun range—he was a good shot and always joking that he never missed unless it was on purpose or a warning shot. At home, he could often be found gardening, building models, or working under the hood of a car—usually with one of his kids by his side, passing on not just skills, but lessons in independence and confidence.
Lee was also a dedicated and hard-working employee at Ball Aerospace for 26 years, where his strong work ethic, reliability, and problem-solving mindset earned the admiration of many. He was truly inspirational to those who worked alongside him—respected for both his skills and the quiet leadership he brought to every task.
His goofy nature was well known by those closest to him, who were lucky enough to enjoy his dry-witted and ornery humor. He was known for his goofy and kind spirit—an unexpectedly funny dancer, a silly singer, and the kind of person who could make you laugh when you least expected it. He never missed an opportunity to teach, encourage, and remind others of their strength.
Above all, Lee was steady, loyal, and deeply loving. He never backed down from a challenge and refused to let life define his limits. If you told him he couldn’t do something, he’d go out and prove you wrong—with grit, grace, and determination. His strength and warmth shaped those around him, and he leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, kindness, and fierce devotion to family.
A celebration of life will be held on August 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service – Hunter Chapel, 2100 N Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.
At this time, the family kindly asks for no flowers or gifts. If you feel inclined to honor Lee, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice, spending time outside, or going fishing—just as he would have loved.
He will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
